Admissions

Admissions Procedure

The Master of Professional Accountancy program has a rolling admissions policy, which means that an admission decision will be made as soon as all your information is received. The application process may be started at the beginning of the applicant's last semester of undergraduate study. Applicants may apply online or the form may be printed and mailed to:
WVU Admissions and Records
Box 6009
Morgantown, WV 26506-6009

Or call 304-293-2121 to obtain an application form. Additionally, the applicant should take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) several weeks before applying to the MPA program because an admission decision cannot be made until the official GMAT scores are received by the Division of Accounting.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

The GMAT measures verbal, quantitative and writing skills and is designed to help predict a student's potential academic performance. The GMAT does not test knowledge in specific subjects, but instead measures general verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills. The Graduate Management Admission Council offers the computer-adaptive GMAT year-round in many locations. To schedule an appointment to take the GMAT, call 1-800-GMAT-NOW. You should have your VISA, MasterCard, or American Express card available. For more information on the GMAT, visit their web site at www.gmac.com. Exam cost is contained in "frequently asked questions".

The GMAT examination requirement is waived for students who have passed all parts of the CPA exam.

WVU GMAT code: C2S-6D-49

Transcripts

Admissions and Records at WVU will provide the Division of Accounting with transcripts for credit hours earned at WVU. All applicants should make arrangements to have official transcripts for all credit hours earned at other colleges/universities sent to the WVU Admissions and Records, Box 6009, Morgantown, WV 26506-6009.

Résumé and Statement of Purpose

Applicants must submit a résumé and a statement of purpose that discusses career objectives and reasons for seeking admission to the graduate program. The résumé should identify at least three individuals that may be used for references, their affiliations, addresses, and telephone numbers. The applicant should not request reference letters from these individuals at the time of applying for admission to the MPA program. The résumé and statement of purpose may be e-mailed to MPA@mail.wvu.edu or sent directly to MPA Admissions, Division of Accounting, College of Business and Economics, WVU, Morgantown WV 26506-6025.
