MBA Overview
West Virginia University’s internationally nationally accredited 14 month MBA program is ideal for someone interested in pursuing the MBA immediately after completing the bachelor’s degree or for someone looking to change careers and/or enhance job opportunities.
In joining WVU’s MBA program, your classroom experience will be enriched by studying with students from across the United States and the world. The College of Business and Economics firmly believes in the global classroom perspective. All domestic MBA students are required to participate in an international trip. Past destinations include China, Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Poland, or Italy. Whether your background is in liberal arts, the sciences or business, WVU has a place for you.
Two Years, Two Degrees
The College offers the option for students to earn two degrees in two years in the areas of MBA/MS in Finance; MBA/MS in Industrial and Labor Relations; MBA/Master of Professional Accountancy; and MBA/MS in Sport Management. MBA with an Emphasis in Finance
Students in the 14-month MBA program may stay an additional semester to gain an MBA with a emphasis in Finance. Students interested in pursuing that option take Finance 510 (Investments) as an elective in the summer semester and then take four finance courses in the fall semester (Quantitative Finance, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Equity and Fixed Income Investments, and Portfolio Management). Students who are able to stay another year after the core year can choose four finance classes from the seven offered in fall and spring to consititute the finance emphasis. Spring offerings include advanced corporate finance, derivative securities and alternative investments. A 3.0 grade point average in all finance courses must be achieved before the emphasis can be awarded.

WVU’s MBA program is accredited by AACSB International, the principal accrediting organization for business schools. WVU’s MBA program is one of the most affordable programs in West Virginia and the country. We offer competitive tuition waivers and scholarships and subsidize the required international trip you will pursue as part of your program.

All students entering the MBA program in Summer 2012 must have earned a C or higher in the following undergraduate courses prior to enrollment OR meet this course work via an online software program offered by the WVU MBA program at a minimal cost:
- Introduction to Accounting
- Introduction to Microeconomics
- Introduction to Statistics

ECON 201. Principles of MicroeconomicsIntroductory microeconomics analysis. Competitive behavior of firms, price determination, efficiency in production and equity in distribution.
Introduction to Statistics
ECON 225. Elementary Business and Economics StatisticsBasic concepts of statistical models, distributions, probability, random variables, tests of hypotheses, confidence intervals, regression and correlation with emphasis on business and economic examples.
