DEAR ALUMNI, FRIENDS, & STUDENTS,
Last month, we were pleased to share and celebrate the #23 Online Executive MBA Ranking by U.S. News and World Report. And this month, we have yet another ranking to share with you.
The College was just ranked #6 in the world for "Institutions and Economists in the Field of Sports and Economics" by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. This ranking is based largely on research productivity—a metric we're able to achieve because of our great faculty and students. We are able to retain and recruit these great professors and students because of support from our strong network of alumni and friends.
Among this strong network are Bob and Anne Robinson, whose generous $100,000 endowment will establish two scholarships. Bob's experience at WVU changed his life and now his gift can help do the same for future Mountaineers.
This month, B&E also received a $5 million commitment from alumnus Ken Kendrick and his wife, Randy, and the Charles Koch Foundation to launch a new Center for Free Enterprise. This significant gift will provide us with visiting faculty fellowships and 17 or more four-year Ph.D. student fellowships, allowing for additional research in this important area of study.
To top off the month of February, we were honored to host global entrepreneur Don Panoz, who shared stories of his time with Mike Puskar as the two founded what is now Mylan Pharmaceuticals. His message to students is one we should all remind ourselves of: "You can make dreams come true."
Jose V. Sartarelli, Ph.D.
