Forecasts of the coming year's national and West Virginia economic trends will be given by Andy Bauer, a regional economist at the Baltimore Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and George Hammond, economist at the WVU Bureau of Business and Economic Research.
Panelists Mark Muchow, Deputy Secretary of the West Virginia Department of Revenue, and Corky DeMarco, Executive Director of the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association, will discuss the implications of the forecast on some of the state's key business and industry sectors.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin will conclude the event with a presentation.

Andy Bauer - US Economic Outlook
Andy Bauer is a regional economist at the Baltimore Branch of the Richmond Fed. He holds a BA degree from American University and a Ph.D. from Emory University. In addition to following the national economic outlook, he monitors the Fifth District economy with a special focus on Maryland and the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. He also regularly speaks on national and regional economic conditions to academic groups, business associations, and civic organizations.
Prior to joining the Richmond Fed in 2006, Bauer worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. As a senior economic analyst on the Atlanta Fed's macroeconomic team, Bauer co-authored articles on macroeconomic forecasting, consumer inflation measures, and shocks to the U.S. economy during recessions.
George Hammond - Outlook for the West Virginia Economy in 2012 and Beyond
George Hammond is Associate Director of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research in the College of Business and Economics. He holds a BA degree from the University of Colorado and a Ph.D. in business economics from Indiana University. For more than a decade, he has produced numerous forecasts and analyses of the state economy as well as many of the state’s regional economies. He is often quoted in the state’s print and broadcast media and has provided briefings to the executive and legislative branches of state government.
